Students who are completely remote and only attending classes via online do not have to take an action to waive out of the mandatory insurance plan. 100% remote students are not required to participate in the mandatory health insurance plan and are therefore not required to waive. The premium will be added to all University student accounts and will be automatically removed for 100% Remote and Carolina Away learners at the end of September.

The July 2020 GSHIP premium file has been uploaded into Connect Carolina and departments now have access to the GradStar GSHIP Administrator Premium Maintenance page to update allocations to Research Assistants/Teaching Assistants (RA/TAs).

Departments can begin their 2020-2021 GSHIP student enrollment on Monday, June 15, 2020. Enrollment should be completed as soon as possible but no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2020. This year Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) will be issuing new ID cards for all students.

Graduate students who will be graduating at the end of the Spring Semester must be removed from the Graduate Student Health Insurance Program effective May 31, 2020.
