Fiscal Responsibility and Leadership

The Finance and Budget team provides effective fiscal leadership and stewardship of University financial resources while partnering with campus schools and departments to manage funds, analyze and improve business processes and make strategic financial decisions that are compliant and timely.

Fraud Alert! We have received reports of fraudulent purchase orders being placed that appear to be connected to UNC. If you are a vendor or campus unit and need to validate whether or not a purchase order is a legitimate one from UNC, contact purchasing_team@unc.edu. Please do not assume an error or ignore it. If you are a vendor and suspect you are the victim of a fraud attempt, contact your local authorities to file a police report. We appreciate your diligence in this matter.

Finance and Budget includes 19 departments overseeing $12 billion in assets and deferred outflows and $9.7 billion in liabilities and deferred inflows, with a net position at $2.3 billion as of June 30,2020 – a strong position consistent with its $2.3 billion net position as of June 30, 2019. The departments are committed to prudent stewardship of University resources through strong internal controls, strategic planning and fiscal responsibility of funds.

MCU Purchasing Guidelines Form Requirement Ends 5 p.m. October 12

October 12, 2021

The MCU Purchase Approval Form that was implemented on March 19, 2020 will no longer be required for campus purchases as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021.

October GSHIP Files Uploaded

October 4, 2021

The October 2021 GSHIP premium file has been uploaded into Connect Carolina and departments now have access to the GradStar GSHIP Administrator Premium Maintenance page to update allocations to Research Assistants/Teaching Assistants (RA/TAs).

Full Position Management Go Live

October 1, 2021

Changes related to full position management and online SHRA position descriptions are going live next week!  That means starting Monday, October 11 all jobs will have a position.  The capability for on-line SHRA position descriptions, which can be easily printed, will also be implemented.
