Airgas Surcharge

August 11, 2020

Due to COVID-19, one of Airgas’s plants has reduced production, forcing Airgas to obtain substitute product from another available source. Because of this, a temporary surcharge of $.05 per pound above the contracted price for their products will apply throughout Fall 2020.

July 2020 GSHIP Files Uploaded

The July 2020 GSHIP premium file has been uploaded into Connect Carolina and departments now have access to the GradStar GSHIP Administrator Premium Maintenance page to update allocations to Research Assistants/Teaching Assistants (RA/TAs).

Action Needed – Outstanding Credit Due to Departments from Vendors

In order to close the loop of any unanticipated loss of State funds to the University (as well as to the departments or units), we are requesting that business staff create a credit voucher and upload supporting documentation that funds were attempted to be retrieved at the time that the credit has been given.

Airgas and ARC3 Independence Day Hours

Procedures for June 2020 Payout

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide campus information on the June 2020 payout distribution to University and UNC-Chapel Hill Foundation Inc. endowments.  The approved distribution rate each year is targeted to be approximately 5 percent of market value, but the actual distribution could be lower if the endowment is underwater.   The term “underwater endowment” is used to mean one in which the endowment’s total market value is less than its historic book value or principal – i.e. the actual dollars contributed to the fund.
