I am pleased to announce that Jen Clark will be our new Director of Accounts Payable and Vendor Services, effective Monday, December 20, 2021.

In her new role, Jen will manage and oversee the Accounts Payable and Vendor Services department, including the management of staff, maintenance of the voucher payment management system in PeopleSoft and various other platforms, travel disbursement fulfillment, system reporting and audit compliance for each of these areas. She will develop and implement long and short-term strategies to ensure the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system supports the University’s disbursement needs and enhancements and maintain and develop appropriate controls to ensure compliance with regulatory entities. In addition, Jen will manage and maintain the Vendor Management Portal and supplier database as well as oversee 1099 compliance and Independent Contractor reporting. In this capacity, she will ensure vendors are vetted and in compliance with federal mandates as well as ensure vendor domestic and foreign bank accounts are vetted and will be responsible for developing a system that continuously runs checks and analytics.

Many of you know Jen from her reputable work as the assistant dean for Finance at the UNC School of Law and Chief Financial Officer of the UNC Law Foundation, which she has served since 2015.  She began her career at the Indiana University Alumni Association as the director of Human Resources and assistant director of Business Operations. Jen came to Carolina in 2007, serving as an administrative manager in the Office of the Dean of Students before becoming the financial administrator in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in 2012.  In 2013, she advanced as an assistant dean for Finance in the School of Law before rising to her current position in 2015.  During her tenure there, among a myriad of responsibilities, she oversaw the school’s budget, five-year strategic plan, contracts and grants as well as the UNC Law Foundation’s activities and reports and managed five full-time staff.

I want to thank the following individuals who served with me on the search committee for this position:

  • Travis Henderson, Director of Procurement, Procurement and Strategic Operations
  • Manali Bettendorf, University Controller and Executive Director for Enterprise Financial Accounting
  • Don Hepp, Senior Director, HR and Finance Applications, ITS

Please join me in congratulating Jen in her new role.
