Janet Rupert’s Retirement

As many of you may have heard, Janet Rupert, Director of Accounts Payable and Vendor Services, is retiring and her last day in the office is Friday, November 12, 2021.

While we are extremely pleased for Janet, we will be losing a tremendous contributor to our team and she will be greatly missed. Janet came to the University in 2008, hired as Capital Assets Manager in the Division of Finance and has served the State for more than 14 years, the majority of them with UNC-Chapel Hill.

Our team and Carolina have benefitted from Janet’s institutional knowledge, problem-solving skills, strong wit and humanitarian approach — as well as her commitment to the values and vision of public service the University upholds. She has been a key driver to many campus-wide operational changes, including the surplus property management system, foreign tax withholding facilitation, the streamlined one-week speaker and community collaborator forms, and student payment project design and implementation. Her sharp analytical abilities brought higher levels of reporting for the department, allowing us to improve operations significantly.  In addition, she contributed greatly to the herculean efforts of the implementation of ConnectCarolina and served on many Operational Excellence projects.

Please join me in wishing Janet the best in her retirement.
