As mentioned in the July 10 memo to campus detailing initial ConnectCarolina Finance cutover dates and procedures, Web Travel is being updated and will interface with ConnectCarolina on Oct. 1. Users were informed of the need to set up new Flexible Routing of Electronic Documents (FRED) groups and routes for Web Travel for the new department structure in the New FRED system in Finance Central beginning in July. Existing Web Travel groups and approval routing will not migrate to ConnectCarolina.

We are pleased to announce that the New FRED system is now available for Route Administrators to set up approval groups and routes for post go-live use in the new Web Travel system. These groups and routes will activate on Oct. 1 and will only apply to Web Travel documents created on or after Oct. 1.

Note: The New FRED system is live for Web Travel setup only; Web Travel in ConnectCarolina will not go-live until Oct. 1. The New FRED system uses the new 6-digit department number structure. Users can set up groups and routes as usual in Finance Central until Oct. 1.

Current Route Administrators can go to https://finance.itsapps.unc.edu/frs2 to sign in with their Onyen and password, and navigate to the Web Travel section. These changes do not affect the current groups and routes and won’t apply until the Oct. 1 go-live. The process for setting up groups and routes in New FRED is very similar to the current process. For more information, view the new “Web Travel Groups and Routes in new FRED” training manual linked from the Finance Training page at https://finance.unc.edu/services/training/.
