Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, users of ePAR forms will notice changes to the funding grid. These changes are being made to reduce errors in the distribution of payroll expenses to appropriate accounts and to reduce the amount of data entry needed. This change also will make it possible to enter funding information on the funding grid for ePAR forms either as percentages or to continue entering funding using dollar amounts.

In the following cases, entering by dollar amount is still the preferred method:

  • Faculty and staff who have supplements or stipends that equal a specific dollar amount, (for example, Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) stipends).
  • Anyone who has a funding row assigned an RNF earning code (used for post-doc trainees who are exempt from FICA).
  • For individuals whose salary is over the NIH salary cap.

This change to the funding grid on ePAR forms will be effective in ConnectCarolina HR/Payroll on the evening of Friday, Oct. 2. Extensive testing has been done to ensure that the improved funding grid will work as planned.

This document is a description of the changes to the funding grid. In addition, a webinar is planned for Friday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. to highlight the modifications mentioned above and offer the opportunity for questions. To join the webinar, click this link:

Help

If you have problems connecting to the webinar, it may be due to one of two issues with Java settings. One is your default program settings – covered in this article: http://support.blackboardcollaborate.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=8336&task=knowledge&questionID=1868
