Kristen DunivantHow does your job support Carolina’s mission?

The TIM (Time Information Management System) is UNC-Chapel Hill’s official time capturing system utilized to track SHRA employee hours for accurate calculation of payment as well as trace leave for SHRA and EHRA employees.  It is one of the systems involved with ensuring hourly employees are paid timely and accurately.  It provides a method for recording and reviewing accrual balances for permanent employees, so they know how many leave hours they have available. TIM helps the University meet our obligations to employees and helps employees receive the benefits of their time invested from working at Carolina.

What is a typical day like in your job?

We usually have an upcoming project to update the system in some way, so I am involved with configuring and testing the upcoming change, working on documentation and communications, and tracking our progress to make sure we meet our deadlines. I also assist TIM Administrators who have questions or requests.

What do you like most about your work?

My favorite part of my job is when we are working on bringing something new to TIM.  It gives me the opportunity to work in different and sometimes entirely new areas of the system.  I especially like it when it helps our users get more from TIM.

What’s new in TIM Services?

We just implemented an enhancement to TIM Manager access, so that TIM Approvers of any SHRA employee, Non-Exempt or Exempt, would become a manager in TIM.  These managers can now see all of their SHRA and Permanent EHRA employees in TIM!  Previously, only Managers of SHRA Non-Exempt employees were able to see their employees in TIM.

What is something people probably wouldn’t know about you, or another fun item you’d like to share?

I really enjoy taking pictures of the outdoors and since I don’t enjoy the process of editing, all of my photos are unedited.
