NEW! December Month-End Close:  Central offices have officially closed for the month of December.  This includes the transmission and reconciliation of all December transactions, and state approval to close the month.

NEW! January Month-End Close Deadline: Validated campus journal entries and data collect batches (journal imports) should be received by Accounting Services by close of business (5 p.m.) Thursday, January 31. Please remember that accounting will not receive the journal entries until the journal has been budget checked valid and has passed through all required approvals (including OSR, if necessary).

NEW!  Paper W-2 Opt Out Reminder: Tax year 2018 W-2 forms will be released by the end of January. Employees still have time to opt out of paper W-2s. Employees who opt out of a paper W-2 before January 18 will not receive a printed copy. Please encourage employees to take advantage of this brand-new functionality soon. Please find more detailed instructions in the October formal notice.

NEW! 2019 Travel Mileage Updates:  Effective Jan. 1, 2019, the allowable business standard mileage rate will be 58 cents per mile when using a personal vehicle for round trips under 100 miles, and 33 cents per mile for round trips that exceed 100 miles. As always, university travelers are encouraged to use a State-owned vehicle or vehicle leased through a State contract for university business.  For more information, including charts and Q & As, see the January 9 memo.

NEW! Daily P-Card posting: P-Card transactions will soon be posted daily in General Ledger and InfoPorte. This daily posting change should provide Works users with more timely account balance information throughout the month and allow for more accurate account budgeting.  Information is being shared with Works users and MOU Financial Leads.

Users should utilize the Business Systems Help Desk when they are unsure who to contact for issue resolution. This is the fastest way to obtain assistance and allows the project team to be able to track issues to determine the scale of the impact to all users. Users can reach the Business Systems Help Desk at 919-962-HELP or via a remedy ticket submitted online at help.unc.edu (select ConnectCarolina > ConnectCarolina Finance > the appropriate area of concern).
