To:   Finance Employees, University Business Managers

From: Richard Mann, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration

Date: October 19, 2010

I am pleased to announce that Kevin Seitz has been named the University’s new associate vice chancellor for finance, effective December 1.

Kevin comes to the University from East Carolina University, where his current role is vice chancellor for administration and finance. Kevin has many years of public higher education experience, most recently overseeing campus divisions including business services, financial services and campus operations since 2005. Prior to his appointment at ECU, Kevin worked in various positions at the State University of New York at Buffalo since 1974 and rose to the position of vice president for university services before moving to North Carolina.

Kevin brings to this position key leadership experience in implementing e-procurement and other Oracle business applications. He has expertise with managing the university’s capital project program, the debt service program, and developing a transparent budget process. He knows the situation the state universities are facing with budget reductions and will join the University at a critical time.

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Patricia, and has two children, Joseph and Jennifer, and three grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia and Abigail.

I am confident Kevin will continue the strong leadership and service expected from the Finance Division. I am excited to welcome him to Chapel Hill.

Note: This memo is being sent separately to deans, directors and department chairs and human resources facilitators.
