This email serves as a reminder that due to COVID-19, the University prohibits University-affiliated travel outside the State of North Carolina.  Please note the following exception processes:

Out-of-State Travel. Exception processes are outlined on the Carolina Together website for the following travel types:

  • Faculty and Post-Doc Travel
  • Graduate Student Research Travel
  • EHRA Non-Faculty and SHRA Staff Travel
  • Undergraduate Students, Student Groups, and Club Sports

International Travel. Exception processes are outlined on the UNC Global website.

Requirements.  If University-affiliated travel is pre-approved, please ensure that copies of the approval are submitted with any requests in CABS, Web Travel, and to the University’s Authorized Travel Agencies.

In addition, please be sure and utilize any Unused Airline ticket credits available when booking new flight reservations.  If the traveler had a ticket which was cancelled due to COVID travel restrictions, it may have an extended expiration date and be eligible to be applied towards a new ticket without assessing any change fees. This applies to all airline tickets which meet the airline’s COVID parameters, regardless of how they were purchased. Tickets booked through the University’s Authorized Travel Agencies may also be eligible for utilization by a different traveler.

Follow up emails will be sent to Campus Unit Finance Leads with a list of Unused Ticket credits for their departments including updated expiration dates.

For questions regarding travel, please contact the Travel Services Team.
