Congratulations to Jennifer Washington, associate operations director of the University Cashier Office, for being selected by the UNC System Staff Assembly for a 2024 Janet B. Royster (JBR) Memorial Staff Scholarship award. The Scholarship promotes staff development for permanent, full-time, non-faculty employees by assisting them in earning a degree or another professional certification.
Washington has been employed by the University for 11 years and joined the University Cashier Office in December 2023. As associate operations director, she collaborates with University staff and external vendors while overseeing student billing, department deposits and payments. Alongside her professional duties, Washington is pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education and Leadership at UNC Wilmington, with an expected graduation in 2026.
The UNC System Staff Assembly recognized Washington and other employees from UNC System institutions in November 2024. For the 2024-25 academic year, each selected employee will receive an award of up to $1,000.
