This e-mail is specifically for those who are responsible for graduate students enrolled in the Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (GSHIP).
The April 2021 GSHIP premium file has been uploaded into ConnectCarolina and departments now have access to the GradStar GSHIP Administrator Premium Maintenance page to update allocations to Research Assistants/Teaching Assistants (RA/TAs).
The total cost allocation must equal the monthly premium amount of $344.80.
The last day to make changes in the system will be Monday, April 26, 2021.
- Departments can start entering GSHIP terminations now for students who are graduating or not continuing in their role as an RA/TA effective 5/31/2021. UNC RA/TA 5/31/2021 terminations can be accepted until 7/30/2021. After that date, we will not be able to terminate a UNC RA/TA back to 5/31/2021.
- Students who are terminated from the UNC RA/TA plan are eligible to enroll with a qualifying event onto the UNC Mandatory plan for coverage through 7/31/2021.
- Remember: Students who are terminated from the UNC RA/TA plan effective 5/31/2021 only have 30 days from the last day they had coverage to enroll in the UNC Mandatory plan effective 6/1/2021 or find other health insurance coverage if they choose to do so.
