To:  All AOB Staff (Finance, ORH, OSR)

The network switches in the Administrative Office Building (AOB) are over 7 years old and need to be replaced. ITS-Networking is replacing these switches during the early morning of June 8 and 9. The wireless network access points throughout the building also need replacement. The wireless access points will be replaced on June 16.  These upgrades will enhance the performance of network connectivity for all staff in the AOB.

What: Network Switch Upgrade in AOB

When: June 8 and 9, 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Impact: Computer network connectivity will not be available during these times. This also impacts VOIP telephones. In addition to upgrading the switches in the network equipment rooms/closets, ITS staff will be removing the power bricks from all the telephones in the building. Following the switch upgrade, the telephones will obtain their power from the switch and won’t need the power bricks that are currently plugged into electrical outlets. (This reduces the amount of workspace wiring and clutter.)

Support:  ITS-Networking and F&O IT staff will be available in the building following these upgrades to provide support in case any issues arise. If staff experience any issues when they return to the building, please call 919-962-HELP or submit a service request.

What: Wireless Access Point Upgrade in AOB

When: June 16, 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Impact: Wireless network connectivity will be interrupted as each wireless access point is replaced.

Support:  ITS-Networking and F&O IT staff will be available in the building following this upgrade to provide support in case any issues arise. If staff experience any wireless network issues when they return to the building, please call 919-962-HELP or submit a service request.  It’s always a good idea to reboot your computer following these types of changes. Connecting laptops to docking stations should provide the network access needed to contact support and resolve wireless configuration issues.
