This email is specifically for those who are responsible for graduate students enrolled in the Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (GSHIP). A few reminders for the coming semester:
- Students who are graduating, withdrawing, or no longer working for the University should have their coverage terminated in ConnectCarolina before 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 17. Please e-mail Cash_Management@unc.edu once you have updated the status of your students.
- If you have RA’s or TA’s who were just hired, be sure to submit their GSHIP paperwork by 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 so Blue Cross Blue Shield can issue a policy ID number to them prior to the Jan. 1, 2020 policy effective
These new RAs/TAs will have to use the policy ID number to waive out of the UNC system Student Health Insurance Plan (Student Blue) at https://campushealth.unc.edu/charges-insurance/student-blue-ra-ta-and-postdoc-insurance
Students must waive the Student Blue Insurance Plan by Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.
- Spouse and dependent coverage is available on the GSHIP Plan, and can be completed directly with Blue Cross/Blue Shield at 1-800-579-8022.
