In coordination with Operational Excellence, UNC-CH Procurement Services has been reviewing vendors with a high volume of Campus Voucher reimbursements. Panera Bread has the highest number of Campus Vouchers issued for payment. In fact, Panera has the largest percentage of catering charges among all vendors. Many departments utilize Panera Bread for catering services for small meetings hosted on campus. In the past, Panera Bread has provided invoices for purchases and the department then submits a request for payment via Campus Voucher. Due to the campus-wide use of this vendor, we have identified a more effective and secure way to use their services, as shared in a May 20 email.

Panera Bread now offers UNC-Chapel Hill a discount of $10.00* on catering orders greater than $150.00. When placing a catering order online or in the café, use the discount code SAVE10 to receive a $10 discount off the total order. This discount is only valid at the Chapel Hill (Store 1646) and Durham-Witherspoon Blvd. (Store 1651) locations only. TIPS AND REMINDERS FOR CATERING ORDERS:
• Upload the UNC-CH Tax Exempt letter to your account or provide to vendor. Tax exemption is for catering orders only. Small-order delivery is for personal orders, which are not tax exempt and therefore the tax-exempt option is not available.
• The total bill must be less than $5000.00 when using the P-card.
• For larger events, please continue to use the Purchasing Requisition process to request payment or contract reviews.
• Credit card security: Do not include the credit card number in an email. Instead, call the vendor directly or, if the vendor has a secure website for payments, use the P-card for online payment.
ALTERNATIVE CATERING OPTIONS:
Carolina Catering offers catering services for large events and small meetings. Because they are an on-campus department, they use interdepartmental billing, so there is no credit card, invoice or Campus Voucher required for payment and there is no charge for delivery.
