From: Beau Jimmerson, Executive Director, Strategic Sourcing and Payment Services

I’m pleased to welcome a new addition to the Strategic Sourcing and Payment Services team. Effective Monday, Oct. 30, Travis Henderson will become Director of Procurement Services. In this role, Travis will work to drive world-class procurement processes and enhance the customer experience within all UNC-Chapel Hill procurement functions.

Travis will be responsible for purchasing, asset management, strategic supply, and disbursements. He will be charged with updating our processes to better align with ConnectCarolina (PeopleSoft) as the institution’s strategic platform, driving customer engagement, and increasing efficiency throughout the procurement units. Travis’ background in Lean organizations will prove essential as we strive to deliver a better customer experience.

Most recently, Travis has worked with Lenovo as Senior Manager of General Procurement, where his major accomplishments include rollout of a new travel program, P-Card program management, and system integration with Ariba, a cloud-based supplier network. Travis worked with IBM and Lenovo for 20 years in a myriad of supply chain positions before deciding to further his career here at UNC-Chapel Hill.  Travis holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.

I want to thank the following individuals who joined me on the search committee for this position:

  • Senior Associate Athletic Director, CFO Business Office, Athletics – Martina Ballen
  • Senior Director, HR and Finance Applications, ITS – Don Hepp
  • Assistant University Counsel, University Counsel – Elizabeth Josephs
  • Executive Director, Enterprise Financial Accounting and University Controller – Aimee Turner
  • Executive Vice Dean and COO, School of Pharmacy – Rick Wernoski

Travis will be meeting with many different areas during his first few weeks on campus.  Please join me in welcoming Travis to his new role.
