To: Major Organizational Unit (MOU) Financial Leads, University Business Managers, Finance Staff
From: Aimee Turner, Executive Director of Enterprise Financial Accounting and University Controller
I’m pleased to welcome a new addition to the Controller’s team. Elizabeth (Beth) McAndrew became the Director of Financial Reporting and Management Services in December. In this role, Beth will lead and direct the preparation and analysis of the quarterly and year-end financial reports as well as the University Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and will coordinate the audit of the University financial statements.
In addition, Beth will oversee the implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements as well as direct and coordinate the University accounting interface with the state accounting system. She will supervise the preparation of the unrelated business income tax returns, ensure compliance with bond debt resolution requirements, and report and strengthen internal controls for financial reporting.
Beth began her career with IBM and has more than 18 years of experience in corporate finance, most recently with Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions in the Research Triangle Park where she served as Worldwide Corporate Controller. Previously, Beth managed Toshiba’s business processes and controls and was an Investment Analyst for IBM. Beth is a CPA who earned her Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Cameron School of Business.
I want to thank the individuals who joined me on the search committee for this position: Chandrika Rao, Scott Dwyer and Steve Kenny, as well as the many others across campus who assisted in interviewing the candidates.
I hope you’ll welcome Beth to her new role on the Financial Reporting and Management Services’ team.
