Date: July 6, 2016
The University is pleased to announce that Carolina Managed Print Services (formerly Carolina Copy) has entered into a new partnership that will deliver to campus a reliable and cost-effective copy program with the highest quality copying, printing, scanning and faxing equipment and services.
Carolina Managed Print Services has partnered with Xerox to provide all departmental copy machines (non-production copy, print, scan and fax Multifunctional Devices, or MFDs), effective June 2016. This new partnership blends the operational know-how of a recognized leader in the copying industry with a University department that is intimately familiar with campus copying and printing needs.
To ensure campus customers are afforded the best overall copy and print environment, Carolina Managed Print Services, in conjunction with Xerox, will conduct a thorough assessment of each department’s copying and printing activities and needs in order to determine the most efficient and cost-effective use of equipment going forward. Once this assessment is complete, new MFDs will be furnished to the department within approximately 30 days.
We are well aware that many departments need a new copier right now and those needs are a priority to us. This rollout is replacing nearly 800 copiers and will take some time to complete; we appreciate your patience as we begin the process and look forward to replacing all of the older copiers. We do anticipate the new copiers will begin rolling out this August.
You may remember that earlier this year, the University adopted a new campus-wide Copying/Print Policy designating Carolina Managed Print Services as the exclusive source for furnishing all departmental copying equipment and services to campus (https://policies.unc.edu/TDClient/2833/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=131332). Contracts that departments currently hold with other copier vendors will be honored until they expire. Those departments will then have their copying/printing equipment and services provided by Carolina Managed Print Services.
Carolina Managed Print Services is committed to delivering the highest quality equipment, services and support to the University community, and looks forward to continuing to meet and exceed customer expectations under this new partnership with Xerox.
