NEW! Upcoming ConnectCarolina Outages
Saturday, Aug. 29, 5 a.m.-noon
There will be a ConnectCarolina maintenance outage on Saturday, Aug. 29, beginning at 5 a.m. and ending at approximately noon. This affects the Student Administration component of ConnectCarolina and the ePAR hire form for HR/Payroll as well as some services related to Onyen, PID and Guest ID. The Finance component is NOT affected by this outage.
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 12:30-2 p.m.
There will be a Commitment Accounting lockout during this time. During the CA lockouts, no new ePARs can be originated or approved, and the link to the ePAR Home Page will be unavailable for both Finance and HR users.
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 5 p.m.-midnight
There will be an outage affecting the Student Administration component of ConnectCarolina on Tuesday, Sept. 1, beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at approximately midnight as part of the Fall census activities. Census is the official University enrollment reporting date. Faculty, students and staff will NOT be able to access the ConnectCarolina Student component during this time. The Finance component is NOT affected by this outage. However, the ePAR hire form for HR/Payroll is impacted, as are some services related to Onyen, PID and Guest ID.

Other Issues
- NEW! Month-End Close Announcement: Thanks to suggestions from campus users, we have added the finance month-end close announcement to the connectcarolina.unc.edu portal page in the News section. Users will see this information along with other announcements upon logging in.
- NEW! Training for Customer Billing Management (CBM): A computer-based training, Using the Customer Billing Management (CBM) System, is now available. This self-paced course describes how billing areas use CBM to charge campus customers and explains the reconciliation timeline. It also covers how to modify current charges, how to create and apply Favorite chartfield strings and how to view and change default chartfield strings for your department.
- NEW! GradStar Account Codes: Earlier this week, Graduate School sent a reminder about the account codes used by GradStar. The memo can be found here.
- REMEMBER! August Month-End Close Deadline: Validated campus journal entries should be received by Accounting Services by close of business Friday, August 28, and data collect batches (journal imports) should be received by Accounting Services by close of business Monday, August 31. It is critical that Journal imports with state funds are submitted on or before Monday, August 31.
Important Reminders and Resources
- July Month-End Close: Central offices have officially closed the month of July. This includes the transmission and reconciliation of all July transactions, and state approval to close the month.
- New Process to Request Reports: There is a new form and some new options for requesting new reports! Use this New Report Information Request Form and follow this process, which is outlined in printable PDF format.
- Update on Legacy Systems: A timetable for legacy system transitions and decommissioning has been published here. This table will be updated as new information comes available.
- ConnectCarolina User Conference Scheduled for Oct. 21: The User Conference is a free, one-day event that provides an opportunity for users to learn how to get the most out of ConnectCarolina and InfoPorte. Go to the User Conference page to sign up for a reminder when conference registration opens. Fill out a quick survey to tell us the topics would you like to see covered.

Users should utilize the Business Systems Help Desk when they are unsure who to contact for issue resolution. This is the fastest way to obtain assistance and allows the project team to be able to track issues to determine the scale of the impact to all users.
