Effective July 2010, the State of North Carolina Information Technology Services (ITS) began charging agencies $1 per month for each North Carolina Identity Management (NCID) account issued. Each NCID is the user authentication that allows potential access to the State’s various IT systems. UNC-Chapel Hill currently has more than 400 users of these systems. The University has only recently been able to identify these ID holders/users.
Within the next week, we will email each user and request that the department’s FACS Coordinator complete an access form with FRS account information to be returned to Mechelle Clayton. Any current ID holder/user who no longer requires access should respond to the email promptly and indicate that access can be deleted.
Please be prepared to assist any of these users with getting appropriate account information. Effective July 15, 2011, Student Accounts and University Receivables will begin charging accounts for FY11-12. We will charge $12 per ID holder/user for the year in advance. New users will be assessed a prorated amount for months remaining in the year. Due to administrative costs, we will not issue credits for ID holder/user terminations or access transfers.
