Investment Accounting unit provides investment-related accounting services for the University, UNC Chapel Hill Foundation Investment Fund Inc. (Chapel Hill Investment Fund), the UNC Investment Fund LLC, the UNC Chapel Hill Foundation Inc., and University associated entities. The University Endowment and associated entities invest their endowment on a long-term basis through the UNC-CH Foundation Investment Fund Inc., which invests in the Investment Fund, LLC. The unit has significant responsibilities for administering participants’ contribution and withdrawals, allocations of investment income and net realized gains or losses, and allocations of investment and other fees. The unit maintains the Unit Accounting System for the endowments of the University and participating associated entities. In addition, this unit coordinates with the University Development office regarding the distribution of gifts into the appropriate ledger accounts.
