| University's Pandemic Planning Explored at FEMA Conference |

Date: June 17,2008 UNC Chapel Hill’s leadership in pandemic planning is being noticed nationwide. Recently, Mary Parrish, the University’s business continuity officer, was invited to present during FEMA’s 11th Annual Emergency Management Higher Education Conference Parrish’s session explored the potential effects of pandemic-related closure on University activities such as sponsored research, academic continuity, athletics, and overall financial stability. John Covely, EH&S, joined Mary at the FEMA event to discuss the history and current threat of the avian flu, as well as the University’s pandemic policies. The conference was held at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, and was the highest attended learning event conducted at the Center in the past five years. |
