This release changes how the financial (budget) information is displayed.  The accounts that display in InfoPorte now match how each fund type is budgeted in ConnectCarolina.  This means that the balances you see on the Ledger Rollup tab reflect the budgeted amount for that account.  So, in brief: the big change for this release is the accounts on the Ledger rollup screen are now organized in the same way that we budget.

Another important change in this release allows you to request access to view the HR Funding Report in which you can see the funding information for all employees who are paid off of any of your funding sources, whether they are in your department or not.

What makes InfoPorte release 6.3.1 better?

  • The numbers you see in your account balances are now correct.  Previously, many of your accounts showed a negative balance; however, that number was basically meaningless because budgeting was not done by those accounts to begin with.  The accounts now match the way we budget.
  • The Ledger Rollup tab has been re-organized to show the chartfield strings and associated accounts that results from a ledger inquiry. In addition, the accounts are listed at a detail level with their full account number and description.
  • The links on the Ledger Rollup tab link directly to the Transactions tab to make it easier to see the connection between your balances and the transactions that make up your balance.
  • You can see the funding information for all employees who are paid off of any of your accounts, whether they are in your department or not (by requesting access to the Funding Report).

Title: InfoPorte Release 6.3.1 Webinar

Description: This webinar covers the updates to InfoPorte in the 6.3.1 release. These updates are primarily associated with the Finance Ledger Rollup and Transactions tabs.

A few more details below – but be sure to refer to the release notes and attend the webinar for full information on InfoPorte release 6.3.1:

Ledger Rollup Display

The presentation of your balance information on the Ledger Rollup tab been reorganized so that when you enter your search parameters, the results appear in order by chartfield string and then the accounts within that chartfield string.

Direct Links from Ledger Rollup to Transactions Tab

There’s now a closer tie between the Ledger Rollup tab and the Transactions tab, so that when you click an account on the Ledger Rollup tab, it takes you directly to the transactions on the Transactions tab that make up the balance in that account.  When you do a search on the Ledger Rollup, the links in the search results take you directly to the Transactions tab.

Dynamic Search Fields

The search fields on the Ledger Rollup tab are now dynamic, displaying the values that make sense according to the type of fund you are working with. For example, when you search for a State fund the tab displays the search values used to budget State funds.

Grants Profile Tab Includes Ledger Rollup Summary

The Grants Profile tab now includes summary information from the OSR Ledger Rollup tab. When you choose a specific grant on the Grants Profile tab, you see the grant information (such as the grant end date, who the PI is, the title of grant, and so on) and you also see the financial information that is exactly the same as on the OSR Ledger Rollup tab.  So you can see both your grant information and your ledger rollup information on the same screen.

Requesting Access to View the HR Funding Report

This release also allows you to request access to view the HR Funding Report in which you can see the funding information for all employees who are paid off of any of your funding sources, whether they are in your department or not.  So, if you are in the Chemistry department and you fund part of a salary for an employee in School of Medicine, you can now (once granted access to this report) see your money that is going to this salary; you can also see the distribution of the actuals.
