Re: Action Requested: Legislative Increase for SHRA Non-Exempt Employees

I am writing to make you aware of a software bug which affected the retroactive portion of the 2017 Legislative Increase for SHRA non-exempt employees which will pay in the August 18, 2017, paycheck. Due to the software bug, the retroactive portion covering the period of July 1 to July 23, 2017, had to be manually calculated. A special thanks to the Workforce Strategy, Equity & Engagement; Information Technology Services and Payroll Services team members who worked tirelessly to implement the retroactive increase manually.

Departments are always expected to review and validate payroll and should take extra care in validating the retroactive increase portion for SHRA non-exempt personnel for the August 18, 2017, paycheck. For SHRA non-exempt employees working 40 hours a week from July 1 until July 23, the retroactive period covered by this payment, the increase amount is $57.69. The $1,000 annual legislative increase results in an increase of 48 cents per hour. The retroactive payment for SHRA exempt employees and current salary payments for both groups were unaffected by this bug and are correct.

If you have questions, please email payroll@unc.edu. Thank you.
