You can now enter longer and more detailed descriptions in General Ledger journal headers to explain why a journal is needed and to describe each file you attach to the journal.  Adding complete descriptions means that approvers can review your journal quickly without contacting you, so effective immediately, Accounting Services requires all journal entries to be submitted with long descriptions.

When writing the long description, be sure to write it so that an approver or auditor who does not have detailed knowledge of the transaction can understand what occurred with the transaction, why changes were made, or how individual documents play into the transaction.   Wording needs to be clear and concise, and be sure to limit the use of acronyms.
