Welcome to the Finance Division New Employee Information page. This page is to help orient employees new to using campus finance systems and functions. In addition to the trainings, manuals, and friendly coworkers who can help you, the Finance Training Coordinator is available to assist you with training needs. First, Who does what? Each department on campus has a Human Resource Facilitator (HRF), Time Information Management (TIM) Administrator, Function Access Control System (FACS) Coordinator, and a Flexible Routing of Electronic Documents (FRED) Administrator. You will need to get to know each of these people in your department. You may find it helpful to record this information on the New Employee Reference Sheet (PDF), which can be printed from this page. The TIM Administrator assists with processing your payroll and leave balances through the Time Information Management (TIM) system. Each department has a FACS coordinator who assigns a FACS ID and gives access to campus systems for that department. The FRED Administrator sets up the FRED system groups and routes and designates who can approve documents in the online processing systems accessed through Finance Central. What do I need? The systems you need to access depend on your job duties. You will need to check with your supervisor or HRF to determine which systems you will need. You may also want to subscribe to the Business Manager's Listserv. How do I get Access?UNC at Chapel Hill financial systems require secure access. The department FACS coordinator works with the Finance Record System (FRS) coordinator in the Finance Division to grant and maintain access for each department. A FACS ID can be created by your FACS coordinator in your department. Your FACS ID will be used to log in to systems via Finance Central. Please see your FACS coordinator to complete a Consolidated Access Request form. Your ONYEN will be needed to access TIM, the Finance Data Warehouse, and other systems. An ONYEN is typically created for you when you are hired. Please see your HRF to find out information about your ONYEN. What’s Next?So now that you have been assigned access, how do you use the systems? Well, you need….TRAINING! The Finance Division offers several types of TRAINING. The quickest to access are those on our Web site labeled Computer Based Trainings. These are 15-30-minute video trainings you can access from any computer. We also offer interactive video trainings called Web Based Modules. Web Based Modules may be up top 60 minutes long.
